news host was presenting a segment on new research about the number of heat-related deaths expected amid Britain’s current <a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/tag\/heatwave\/\" data-track=\"inline-tag-auto-link_article\">heatwave<\/a> when the moment occured.<\/p>\n<p>Initially quoting the phrasing used in the research, Croxall said: ‘Malcolm Mistry, who was involved in the research, said the aged, pregnant people… women… and those with pre-existing <a data-track=\"inline-tag-auto-link_article\" href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/tag\/health-news\/\">health<\/a> conditions need to take precautions.’ <\/p>\n<p>‘I have a new favourite BBC presenter,’ <a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/tag\/harry-potter\/\" data-track=\"inline-tag-auto-link_article\">Harry Potter<\/a> author J.K Rowling, who has faced backlash for her views on the transgender community and trans-inclusive langage, posted on X.<\/p>\n<p>Rowling has previously taken issue with phrases such as<a saying pregnant people.<\/p>\n<p>Last year, Croxall notably returned to the BBC after taking legal action <a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2024\/05\/26\/bbc-news-presenter-makes-triumphant-return-taken-off-air-20913652\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2024\/05\/26\/bbc-news-presenter-makes-triumphant-return-taken-off-air-20913652\/\">against the broadcaster<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>She claimed that she was one of a group of BBC employees kept off-air during a rebrand and returned to her place behind the newsdesk after an employment tribunal.<\/p>\n<p>The use of gender-neutral language within maternity care has been a topic of fierce debate in recent years. In 2021 a Brighton hospital faced backlash for rolling out <a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2021\/02\/10\/brighton-midwives-told-to-say-chestfeeding-to-be-more-inclusive-14055419\/\" policy<\/a>’.<\/p>\n<p>Elsewhere a maternity bill in the UK changed the word<a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2021\/03\/24\/birthing-language-that-only-mentions-mothers-excludes-trans-people-14286855\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2021\/03\/24\/birthing-language-that-only-mentions-mothers-excludes-trans-people-14286855\/\"> ‘person’ to ‘mothers and ‘expecting mothers’ <\/a>after complaints.<\/p>\n<p>The trans rights movement has faced intense scrutiny with figures like Rowling stoking debate such as her support of the superme court ruling <a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2025\/04\/16\/judges-to-rule-on-whether-legal-definition-of-a-woman-includes-trans-women-22916440\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2025\/06\/19\/sir-stephen-fry-turns-jk-rowling-claims-radicalised-23453261\/\">appeared to change his stance<\/a> in recent comments saying she has been ‘radicalised’.<\/p>\n<p>‘She has been radicalised, I fear, and it may be she has been radicalised by TERFs, but also by the vitriol that is thrown at her.<\/p>\n<p>‘It is unhelpful and only hardens her and will only continue to harden her, I am afraid.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>He added that she is a \u2018lost cause for us\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018I am not saying that she should not be called out when she
